We present the most important findings of the third comprehensive research on dynamic entrepreneurship that has been carried out in Slovenia, and the comparison with gazelles in 18 European countries. We find that Slovenian dynamic enterprises do not significantly differ in growth rates from their European counterparts, in some respects they are even faster growing, but for the time being, Slovenian enterprises are much younger and smaller.
If backed up by a favourable, supportive atmosphere for entrepreneurship, Slovenian gazelles could catch up with their counterparts abroad in ten years' time. Among factors for growth, the most critical in Slovenia are: environmental barriers, management systems and financing.
